Our recent, Get Your Feet Wet free seminar-9/15/2011, hosted 27 area contractors from Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and special guest, founder of AQUASCAPE, INC., Greg Wittstock aka The Pond Guy™. The morning began with contractors arriving to network together with plenty of coffee, donuts, fruits and bagels to help get them fueled up for the day ahead.
The Pond Guy™ kicked off the seminar speaking to the attendees about how profitable water feature installation can be and how he personally got started in the business of pond building which eventually lead to the creation of his uber-successful industry leading business, AQUASCAPE INC. The contractors then headed outside to learn how to intall 3 different types of water features. AQUASCAPE regional salesman, Dave Englert, Chris Baker from JAMES PONDS, and our host, John Voit of AQUA SCAPES OF DELAWARE VALLEY, instructed the attendees by actually building and setting up 3 distinct water features.
Morning sun gave way to rain, but the enthusiastic attendees and instructors forged on with the "pond building" under a tent. The instructors used hands-on demonstration techniques, and showcased AQUASCAPE'S 20-step process. Andy from AQUAFROTH LLC., demonstrated how to protect the water feature investment with AquaFroth™ Pro Foam. Contractors took turns hauling materials, digging, hooking up the BioFalls® filter, laying AquaBlox® and placing a variety of sizes and shapes of rocks in the ever evolving water features. The rain had no one down, as everyone watched and participated in the building of the water features and learned what an easy and profitable addition water feature installation can add to a landscaping or contracting business's repetoire.
After breaking for a hearty lunch in the warehouse, where attendees could talk with Certified AQUASCAPES Contractors, pick up free marketing materials, and view a large variety of AQUASCAPE PRO Products, everyone headed back out to put the finishing touches on each waterscape. The day was wrapped up with a raffle drawing of a choice of 2 decorative urns that can be converted into an elegant fountainscape. The lucky winners were Greg and Dee from Coastline Contractors LLC of Woodbine, New Jersey.
The day was a great success thanks to everyone involved. Get Your Feet Wet Part II was held on October 26th. This classroom seminar concentrated on selling, marketing and promoting water features and your business. AQUASCAPE regional salesman, Dave Englert, returned to teach attendees the finer points on how to make the most of selling all the types of water gardens and how it can be a very profitable addition to landscaping and contracting businesses.
